Aligned, Able, Alive
Jul 27, 2024Hello! I'm so happy to see you! If you are new here, welcome to Lessons with Lynn, thanks for being here! If you are returning, I'm so glad you came back for more!
THREE - TWO - ONE
THREE WORDS meditation from this week:
1- I have loved hearing and reading about your three words. Thank you to those who shared yours with me. I promised I would share mine. Because I do not have the best memory (especially for words ), I kept mine starting with the same letter when I set my words this year. I went with the letter “A”. My three words I chose to try to live into in everything I do are:
Aligned - Able - Alive
Whatever I do I « TRY » to be Aligned with who I want to be - I try to remind myself I am Able to handle things and that I am Alive and should live like someone who has a life to live not just exist.
Not always easy - something I strive for.
2 - Some common themes I learned of words that students have said they are trying to live by (or living into) were: empathy - patience - joyful - good - accepting - growing - to name a few.
I love how they all have an element of positiveness and hope. Imagine if the World had a little more of any of those words?
3 - This week, as you continue to live into your three words, I hope you will take some time to look back on the past week and reflect on different situations or interactions you experienced to see if you did indeed live into your 3 words. If not, how would it have turned out if you had used your three words? The good news? There is still the upcoming week to keep trying!!!
TWO THINGS to share:
1- My favourite day of the week? Thursday! I was asked by some of you why? I am a very goal oriented person and am very focussed on what I want to get accomplished by Friday each week (a.k.a FF - Friday finishers). So, when Thursday comes around and I review my list of Friday finishers, I automatically feel one of two things: I’m all done my FF and I have the Friday to enjoy and celebrate OR I feel like have an entire extra day ahead of me to try and get my list completed before the end of day on Friday! Either way, Thursday is a great day. THAT is why it’s my favourite day of the week. AND yes, also because I get to play !
2- Something exciting happened on Saturday that made it tricky to have the YOGA on the GO Saturday class LIVE. I was in the car on our way to OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) to watch my daughter, Bella, run Cross Country with her school team. This was a BIG deal for her. Her first OFSAA experience and it happened to be in Etobicoke so we could go watch her which was cool. Her race was at 10:15 a.m. so as per usual, I planned to do my YOGA class on the GO. I had my laptop, a mat and a class ready to go. I was going to run the class from Centennial Park. I focussed so much on the IT of it. Making sure I would have proper WIFI and Luc’s phone as well as mine to ensure I could use one of our data to be able to have service. I even had another recording of a class ready JUST in case something went awry with technology so I could e-mail it if things didn’t workout with the service. (You never know with technology )
One of my three words is : ABLE so, I thought, no problem, I am able to do this. A huge park with a lot of green space, my laptop and a mat - I am good to GO with YOGA on the GO!
What I did not anticipate is dealing with Mother Nature - nowhere did it show that there would be precipitation that morning in Etobicoke - yet we were driving in pouring rain… the really sucky kind, wet and cold.
The class didn’t take place LIVE as planned because of weather - which of course turned out beautiful around 10:30. So I
e-mailed everyone that was supposed to attend class on Saturday and included the link to another recorded class so they could do, at the time, the class that was supposed to take place. I did the best I could do with what I had at the time keeping the 3 words in mind - (able - aligned and alive).
The cross-country girls novice team did amazing - they came in 8th out of 36 teams! Bella was disappointed with her performance. More on that and why for another time…
ONE ACTION for this week:
What if you took one of your three words and really intentionally live into that word this upcoming week in everything you do; every interaction, situation or experience? Really try to remind yourself your one word throughout the whole week. It sounds simple and easy. I have found that it is not that easy in the moment - in THOSE moments when I let emotions get in the way or I make it all about me and how I feel or I am tired or frustrated. It gets harder in those moments. Yet, I still try. Could you give it a try this week? Picking that one word and living into it this week? I can’t wait to hear how it goes.
